1. About this policy

HarvestLocal LLC (“HarvestLocal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates HarvestLocal, including harvestlocal.ai and related marketplace services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

HarvestLocal connects buyers with independent local farmers, bakers, food producers, makers, and other sellers.

2. Information we collect

Account information. We may collect your name, email address, account preferences, profile information, and authentication-related information.

Buyer and order information. We may collect your name, email address, order details, purchase history, pickup information, and communications related to an order.

Seller information. Sellers may provide a business or farm name, contact information, business description, product details, photos, pickup locations and instructions, payment-account information, and other information needed to operate a storefront.

Payment and transaction information. Payments are processed through Stripe. HarvestLocal generally does not receive or store your full payment-card number. We may receive payment status, transaction identifiers, refund information, amounts paid, and other information needed to associate a payment with an order.

Marketplace activity. We may collect information about products viewed, sellers followed, favorites, orders, promotions, notifications, and other interactions with HarvestLocal.

Device and technical information. We and our service providers may collect IP address, browser and device information, approximate location derived from IP address, timestamps, diagnostic information, security logs, and similar technical data.

Communications. If you contact us, we may retain the content of your message and related contact information.

3. How we use information

We may use information to create and maintain accounts; operate the marketplace; process and confirm orders; connect buyers and sellers; provide pickup details and order updates; process payments, refunds, seller onboarding and payouts; provide favorites, follows, alerts and related features; review seller listings; provide seller analytics; prevent fraud and abuse; provide support; improve and secure the service; comply with legal obligations; and enforce our agreements.

4. How we share information

With sellers. When you purchase from a seller, we may provide information reasonably necessary to fulfill the order, communicate with you, and coordinate pickup.

With buyers. We may display seller information needed to operate a public storefront and complete transactions.

With payment and service providers. We use Stripe for payments and seller payment services and may use hosting, database, authentication, email, security, analytics, and infrastructure providers to operate HarvestLocal.

For legal, safety, and business reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud, enforce our agreements, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets.

HarvestLocal does not sell personal information for money. We do not currently operate a third-party advertising network that uses HarvestLocal account information for cross-site behavioral advertising.

5. Payments

HarvestLocal uses Stripe to process payments, refunds, seller onboarding, transfers, and related financial services. Stripe may independently collect and process information under its own privacy practices.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

HarvestLocal and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, session technologies, and similar tools to keep users signed in, maintain secure sessions, remember preferences, operate checkout, detect fraud and abuse, understand site performance, and improve the marketplace. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice or choices regarding non-essential technologies.

7. Children and parental involvement

HarvestLocal is a general-audience marketplace and is not specifically directed to children. Users under 18 should use HarvestLocal with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

Users under 13 may not create or independently use a HarvestLocal account at this time. HarvestLocal does not currently provide the verifiable parental-consent process required before knowingly collecting personal information from a child under 13. If we add such a process in the future, we will update this policy and the service before permitting under-13 accounts.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain transaction and accounting records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, or deidentify it, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements.

9. Security

HarvestLocal uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. No online system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and should notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

10. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, and to opt out of certain uses where applicable. To submit a privacy request, email privacy@harvestlocal.ai. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

11. Seller use of buyer information

Sellers are independent businesses or individuals. A seller may receive buyer information necessary to fulfill an order. Sellers must handle information they receive in accordance with applicable law and HarvestLocal seller terms and may not use buyer information obtained through HarvestLocal for unrelated resale or other unauthorized purposes.

12. Third-party services

HarvestLocal may link to seller websites, social-media accounts, payment services, or other third-party services. Their own privacy policies and terms govern information they collect directly.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as HarvestLocal evolves or applicable law changes. For material changes, we may provide notice through the website, account communications, email, or another appropriate method. The effective date above identifies the current version.
